This is a popular proverb
commonly used in day-to-day life. The meaning of this proverb is that if we
want to gain something, we should work hard.
There
are many persons who dream of getting money without doing any work. But they
should understand money does not grow on trees or does not fall from heaven
(sky/ the place of god). Not only money but also any type of gain such as
success in examination, success in business, discoveries of science,
achievement of fame etc. cannot get without hard work.
This
proverb is applicable in all walks of life. A labourer will not get wages
unless he works in a factory. A student cannot get success in the examination
if he does not study carefully. A farmer cannot reap crops by sitting idly in
his farm. In the same way, businessmen and industrialists have to work hard to
earn money.
But
sometimes we find that some persons do not take any pain and still earn lakhs
of rupees in a day. A person, who goes to a race course and bets, earns more
money if his favourable horse wins the race. Similarly, a speculator who buys
or sells shares in the share bazaar becomes a millionaire overnight without
doing any work. It will happen in rare case. But in normal life, it will not
happen.
In
short, if we want to gain something, we should work hard.
